Moving to Bear

For almost a year, I've been using Hugo to generate this personal site. It worked great, was super customizable and performed really well. The problem I ran into was that updating it was just too much of a hassle: I had to update the code on my computer, rebuild the site, and upload the files to my hosting provider.

That friction discouraged me from posting updates way too often (you can tell by my /now page, which hasn't been updated in 6 months).

I could have automated the process, but I ultimately decided to move this site to Bear Blog, whose vision seems to line up pretty well with my own:

• super lightweight;
• minimalist;
• no ads, trackers, cookies, etc.;
• promoting the IndieWeb;
• long-term vision.

So, we'll see over time if this change helps me publish more 🙂 In any case, I've had a few posts sitting in my drafts for a while.
